Sensei Sunil P.V is the Assistant Technical Director & Secretary of Bodhidharma JKS India as well as the Co-founder & Director of Rei. He is entitled as the best fighter of Bodhidharma JKS India.
He is adorned with the rank of the 3rd DAN by JKS (Japan Karate Shoto Renmei) Japan, and 4th DAN by Bodhidharma JKS India. He is given accreditation as Kata Judge of Kerala Karate Association. His latest performance was at the 2014 and he became Kumite Champion – 55 – 60 kg.
Sensei commenced his training in Karate at the age of 14, from Bodhidharma JKS India, one of the JKS affiliated organizations in the world. He pursued training under Sempai Manikandan who was one of the best fighters in Bodhidharma JKS India and full contact fighter of 1990’s. It was from the Punnayurkulam Dojo at Trichur that he first kept his baby steps of learning karate. Karate was passion to him and hence, he turned out to be the best performer among the other students in the dojo under the training and guidance of Sempai Manikandan. Sensei Sunil was greatly influenced and inspired by the fighting skill and efficiency of his teacher.
Sensei Sunil set out for his first tournament in 1994, representing Bodhidharma JKS at the Kerala State Karate Championship held at Chalakudy. This was indeed a turning point in his life as he became the Kumite (fight) champion 50-55 kg. His inspiration lies in Kumite, and he prefers to spending more time in Kumite training.
Black Belt & Karate Career
Sensei Sunil P.V earned Black belt in the year 2003 from Bodhidharma JKS India. Since then, his involvement in Bodhidharma Academy has been quite strong and deep over the years. He marked his entry as an instructor in 2004 at Prathibha School, Punnayurkulam where he mentored and trained over 100 students. During the time, he has been an instructor in over 5 schools. He has won many internal tournaments and has been graded as the champion of champions (regardless of the weight categorization) and this makes him the best fighter who has the caliber to be taken to greater heights.

Every year, Bodhidharma Academy invites Japan Masters to HQ for training. Like every student in the Academy, Sensei Sunil was also blessed enough to receive training by the Japan masters such as Shihan Tatashi Ishikawa, Shihan Heilu Kamal and Shihan Abe Keigo. He was fortunate enough to be appreciated by the Japan masters such as Shihan Zenei Oshiro and Shihan Tagashi Yamaguchi.. He got the wonderful opportunity of attending the 2nd DAN JKS test administered by Shihan Tagashi Yamaguchi, 7th DAN JKS. Sensei was too efficient and perfect in his performance in kata and kumite, that the DAN test judge Shihan Yamaguchi was pretty impressed and promoted him to 3rd DAN JKS Japan Certification.

Sensei Sunil became the secretary of Bodhidharma Academy in 2007 and he is more attached to Adv. Shihan Manoj K.S, the founder of the Academy. They both have a bonding which is based on karate as an art and his dedication and commitment strengthen this relationship between them. Sensei Sunil has been of great help to Shihan Manoj as he assisted him in conducting camps and tests in Kollam, Calicut, Coimbatore, Kanyakumari, Trivandrum, Ernakulam etc.
